On the evening of the concert, the magical worlds of Hayao Miyazaki will come to life through both sound and image at once. The chamber orchestra The Symphonians will perform the beloved soundtracks live, accompanied by the most iconic scenes from these legendary animated films projected on a big screen.
Miyazaki's films have long become classics of world animation. Audiences love them for their extraordinary stories, deep emotions, singular atmosphere, and music without which none of these films could be imagined. On this evening, the celebrated works of Joe Hisaishi and other composers, written for "Spirited Away," "My Neighbor Totoro," "Howl's Moving Castle," "Kiki's Delivery Service," "Porco Rosso," and other beloved films, will be performed live.
The music of Miyazaki's universe has become an art form in its own right. It carries listeners into worlds where anything is possible: aboard Marco Pagot's plane soaring over the Adriatic, into Kiki's cozy bakery, through Yubaba's mysterious bathhouse, or into Totoro's enchanted forest. Tender, lyrical themes give way to sweeping orchestral passages, creating a remarkable palette of emotion equally close to children and adults.
