Tatyana Lazareva’s banned book is coming out!
Do you know how to save a banned children’s book from the state?
Step 1: gather the stories of Akunin, Khamatova, Shenderovich, and a dozen other people and their children in one book,
Step 2: get a ban on its distribution because she dared to say that a person is a value,
Step 3: take the print run and hide it,
Step 4: wait 14 years.
Step 5: Open the book again together with the audience and keep enjoying the children’s sayings.
Tatyana Lazareva’s book is stories from childhood, a continuation of Chukovsky’s tradition “From Two to Five.” Here, children say funny and unexpected things, and adults remember what they were like as children. In some places, it’s very funny; in others, it’s touching to the point of goosebumps — a good reason to remember the child within yourself.
Are books about children banned? Then we’ll come up with the rules ourselves for how the book will see the light of day.
At the event: quotes from the book, questions from the audience, and a discussion about what exactly “forbidden” means and how to manage to stay true to yourself when everything around you is changing.
