We invite you to a special screening of the film “DDT XX Century”From
Malevich’s “Black Square” to
“Black Dog of St. Petersburg” — this is how
the author of the idea and
the film’s director, Sergei Kuznetsov, defines the
boundaries of the short 20th century. All the
characters in the film are the
heroes of DDT’s songs. Each
episode is
one track and
one unique artistic method. The
live‑action episodes alternate with
chronicles, fragments of
documentary films — both classic and little‑known — as well as with
animation.
Yuri Shevchuk: “Director
Sergei Kuznetsov is our
good friend. He is a
wonderful, honest, sincere artist. For
several years, he nurtured the
idea for the film. He chose songs that, in his view,
take the viewer through the
entire Russian 20th century — and I myself found this outsider’s
perspective on us interesting. This
film isn’t about Shevchuk, isn’t about DDT — it’s a
film about Russia. About
our beloved homeland.” But, to be honest, we’re feeling tragic about it right now.
