AIGEL — electronic, indie-pop, hip-hop, trip-hop, psychedelic.The electronic duo AIGEL was founded
in 2016 by Tatar singer-songwriter Aigel Gaisina from Kazan (Tatarstan) and
music producer Ilya Baramiia from Saint Petersburg. After the
full-scale invasion in 2022, the band made
an anti-war statement, was
banned in Russia, and left the country. Currently,
Aigel Gaisina is based in Berlin, while
Ilya Baramiia resides in Montenegro. The duo
creates and performs in Russian, Tatar, and English.The band’s
debut album, "1190", was
released in 2017, addressing issues of
judgment and the prison system in Russia. The album received
significant attention in the country. In the same year,
AIGEL performed on the late-night show "Evening Urgant" on
Channel One, Russia’s main TV channel. The
song "Tatarin" from this album went viral, with its
music video getting over 130 million views on YouTube and winning at the Berlin Music Video Awards.The
music video for the song "You're Born" was released two days after Putin’s presidential terms were "zeroed out" in 2020, giving him the opportunity to extend
his presidency for two more terms. The
video depicts
an elderly figure of authority becoming
young through a Christian ritual of diving into an ice-hole. The video was considered
prophetic and gained significant media attention, earning
the Silver Lion at the Cannes Lions festival and winning over 15 awards at festivals worldwide, including the
Berlin Music Video Awards.In autumn 2023, the band’s
song "Piyala", written in
the Tatar language, reached t
he top spot on the global Shazam chart, as well as
first places on the Apple Music and Spotify Top 100 charts in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. It also
ranked 11th on the Billboard TikTok Top 100. The music video for
"Piyala" amassed 54 million views within four months. The
song went viral and was
translated into multiple languages by people
worldwide. Many individuals
representing indigenous minorities, whose heritage languages are endangered,
translated the song into their native languages, highlighting
the multicultural and multilingual beauty of the world and raising awareness
of language loss.From 2017 to 2024, the band produced
over 30 music releases, including
5 longplays, and released
11 music videos, 8 of which got over a million views, with 2 going viral.In the
spring of 2025, AIGEL will embark on an extensive
tour across more than 30 cities in Europe and America, presenting
new material as well as
the best hits from their
eight-year history. The
tour will showcase their
upcoming album, featuring songs not only
in Russian, Tatar, and
English, but also in
German. The band will also introduce
exclusive merchandise, including
vinyl records and
pendants, specially
created for the tour.Each concert will be preceded by a
Special live set from
Ilya Baramiia, the member of
AIGEL, known as one of
the pioneers of electronic music in the
CIS region and one of
Russia’s most prominent
music producers for
